Throughout term 2, Lighthouse partnered with Ardoch to deliver the Artist in Residence program at Gowrie Street Primary School, Mooroopna Park Primary School, and Mooroopna Primary School

The 5-week program provided a unique opportunity to collaborate with a First Nations artist and learn about First Nations culture, artistic traditions, and storytelling through various art mediums. Thanks to artists Melinda Solomon, Lisa Lynch, Chris Walker and Jack Anselmi for sharing their creative skills and knowledge with the students.

The final session included a celebration and exhibition of the artworks. We also asked the students to share their feedback about the program and we've included a few of their comments below:

"I enjoyed making clay turtles and learning to count to 5 in Yorta Yorta language with Lisa".

"I had lots of fun doing the artist-in-residence program. I've never had an experience like this ever before. My favourite thing was making clay turtles. I also really liked the small canvases because we got to paint them with our own design".

"I have enjoyed everything, especially the painting. I have also learnt that you can blend a lot of colours together. I would like it to run again".
