1000conversations

What is 1000 Conversations?

1000 Conversations is an opportunity for us to listen to the community about what it takes to have a happy, healthy childhood, do well in school and go on to study, work and lead productive lives. What helps, what hinders, what can we all do to give every young person, every opportunity to thrive in Greater Shepparton?

A facilitated conversation asking 1000 people across the Goulburn Valley five questions about our young people in Greater Shepparton.

In 2015, 2018, and 2020, Lighthouse instigated 1000 Conversations – a cornerstone initiative that engages the Greater Shepparton community. This deep listening process provides an opportunity to stop and reflect and to hear the voices of our community and our young people.

Why is Lighthouse doing the 1000 Conversations again?

To continue our deep listening to the community and provide an opportunity for 1000 people to stop and reflect and talk about young people and to have their voices heard.

To hear if there have been any changes in priorities and concerns in the community particularly given the significant events that community has experienced – Covid, 2022 floods and the amalgamation of Shepparton’s four secondary schools.

What will happen with the information from the Conversations?

A report and one-page snapshots targeted at particular issues and ideas that are raised. If you would like us to, we will come back and discuss what we heard and discuss your ideas about the next steps.

April 2024 update

The information gathered from 1000 Conversation 3.0 is currently being collated and analysed. The final report will be posted here soon.
