It takes a crew to raise a child

At Lighthouse we want to activate our entire community and form a movement that ensures our young people reach their full potential and thrive. To accomplish this, we extend an invitation to community members interested in volunteering, as well as businesses eager to share their skills or offer opportunities to join the Lighthouse Crew and contribute to our collective efforts in delivering positive change.

Lighthouse Crew volunteering opportunities

Pit Stop

Pit Stop is a strengths-based re-engagement offering. Young people work on small engines and cars under the guidance of volunteer industry professionals and positive community role models.

Volunteers/mentors to work with young people for 1.5hr sessions Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays during business hours.

Family Haven

The Family Haven provides a safe space where parents and carers and their children are welcomed with no referral or appointment. The aim of the Family Haven is to allow parents and children a place to relax, engage with staff and volunteers, share a meal and connect with other parents.

Volunteers are required to play and interact with children 0-5 years and engage with parents.

Industry Links

Nurturing our future workforce is an important element in ensuring the economic growth of our region. Our local businesses are key to providing opportunities and knowledge that can assist with developing career aspirations in our young people.

If your business is interested in hosting an industry links tours please contact our Industry Links Tour Coordinator, Belinda Senini via

OLLY aims to provide a welcoming and non-judgemental space for young people with healthy food, positive social and learning experiences. OLLY staff can refer those in need to relevant services as required.

Volunteers are required to support mentor and encourage young people and assit staff with activities such as cooking and running activities.

Lighthouse has partner with Berry Street's L2P program, and together we are building a pool of volunteer driving mentors to help young people get their necessary driving hours.

Volunteers need to undertake a one-day training and will be provided with the use of an L2P vehicle. This is a flexible volunteering opportunity and a great way to support young people in our community.

We would love to hear from community members interested in volunteering at Mooroopna Park Primary in the school café. Volunteers will assist the Chef in the preparation of meals. Support a school program

Many of our local schools run their own programs. These may include reading programs, woodwork or hands on learning activities, meals programs and much more. Schools would also welcome individuals or community groups who would like to teach a skill such as sewing, knitting, multimedia, or gardening. The possibilities are endless! The Lighthouse team can connect volunteers with a schools and assist with all the requirements and ensure the program runs smoothly.
