It takes a crew to raise a child

At Lighthouse we want to activate our entire community and form a movement that ensures our young people reach their full potential and thrive. To accomplish this, we extend an invitation to community members interested in volunteering, as well as businesses eager to share their skills or offer opportunities to join the Lighthouse Crew and contribute to our collective efforts in delivering positive change.

Lighthouse Crew volunteering opportunities

Pit Stop

Pit Stop is a strengths-based re-engagement offering. Young people work on small engines and cars under the guidance of volunteer industry professionals and positive community role models.

Volunteers/mentors to work with young people for 1.5hr sessions Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays during business hours.

Family Haven

The Family Haven provides a safe space where parents and carers and their children are welcomed with no referral or appointment. The aim of the Family Haven is to allow parents and children a place to relax, engage with staff and volunteers, share a meal and connect with other parents.

Volunteers are required to play and interact with children 0-5 years and engage with parents.

OLLY

OLLY aims to provide a welcoming and non-judgemental space for young people with healthy food, positive social and learning experiences. OLLY staff can refer those in need to relevant services as required.

Volunteers are required to support mentor and encourage young people and assit staff with activities such as cooking and running activities.

Orange Sky

Lighthouse works in partnership with Orange Sky, a national organisation who provide a free laundry service and a safe space for genuine, non-judgemental conversation and connection.

The local service operates at the Family Haven in Mooroopna and is run by volunteers who are more than happy to chat and share a cuppa while participants laundry is being washed.

L2P

Lighthouse has partner with Berry Street's L2P program, and together we are building a pool of volunteer driving mentors to help young people get their necessary driving hours.

Volunteers need to undertake a one-day training and will be provided with the use of an L2P vehicle. This is a flexible volunteering opportunity and a great way to support young people in our community.

Support a School Meals Program

We would love to hear from community members interested in volunteering in the kitchens of local schools that offer meals programs. Volunteers will assist the Chef/Cook with the preparation of meals.
