Engaging Community: Lighthouse ignites "1000 Conversations"
Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project is thrilled to once again be undertaking the organisation’s cornerstone initiative, "1000 Conversations".
Rooted in the organisation’s dedication to listening and learning from the Greater Shepparton community, this approach invites 1000 individuals to voice their insights, ideas and concerns, empowering them to shape a brighter future for the region's young people. Through facilitated conversations, the project seeks to address pivotal questions that will help create a nurturing environment for local youth to thrive.
Lighthouse has previously conducted the 1000 Conversations project in 2015 and 2018, with a condensed version known as "101 Conversations" in 2020.
Amy Robinson, Executive Officer of Lighthouse, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, "We believe that the collective wisdom of our community is invaluable. The '1000 Conversations' project empowers every voice to contribute to the discussion about what it truly takes to ensure that young individuals have the opportunity to lead happy, healthy, and prosperous lives."
"This project is not just about collecting data; it's about listening to our community, understanding their insights, and working together to make a positive impact," Robinson continued. "We are committed to translating these insights into actionable steps to guiding our strategic priorities and to advocate for our community."
The culmination of the "One Thousand Conversations" project will result in a comprehensive report that highlights specific issues and ideas emerging from the discussions.
Lighthouse has an all-voices matter approach and invites young people, parents, educators, service groups, organisations, and businesses to take part in the project. Conversations, which are conducted in groups of approximately 10, are already underway and will be taking place up until October 13, 2023.
