Lighthouse recently received some exciting news with our co-delivered program, Harmony Champs receiving an award at The Multicultural Awards for Excellence in the education category.
In 2021/2 Lighthouse partnered with Culture & Co. to deliver Harmony Champs, an anti-racism leadership program. Harmony Champs staff Lisa Lynch and Sarmed Yassin visited primary schools across the Greater Shepparton region to talk with grade 5 and 6 students about the migrant and refugee journey, and the challenges faced by First Nations people. They also discussed the tools and skills needed to identify and challenge racism and discrimination.
The Multicultural Awards for Excellence formally recognise people and organisations who have fostered cross-cultural understanding and supported those with migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to fully participate in all aspects of Victorian life. Lisa and Sarmed attended a ceremony at Government House on Tuesday 25 October 2022 where they were presented with their award. They are pictured here with Mohammed Yassin (right), CEO of Culture and Co.
We congratulate Lisa and Sarmed for their dedication and for delivering an award-winning program. We also acknowledge the wonderful work of Culture and Co. in bringing this program to life.
