We’re proud to share that our Executive Officer, Amy Robinson, has been selected to join the newly established Partnerships for Local Action and Community Empowerment (PLACE) Community Council – a national initiative committed to putting community at the centre of decision-making. The Community Council will assist to inform PLACE’S strategy to support and strengthening the place based sector.
Amy’s appointment follows Lighthouse’s recent involvement in the PLACE Roadshow and Listening Tour, where Shepparton was one of 50 communities selected to host a stop on the 10-week national tour. This community-led event gave PLACE staff and board members the chance to hear directly from local residents, organisations and initiatives – recognising that each community is unique, with its own strengths, priorities and ideas.
The Community Council is more than an advisory group – it’s part of PLACE’s governance, ensuring lived experience and local insight shape strategy, impact and decision-making from the ground up.
Amy’s selection recognises not only her leadership at Lighthouse, but also the strength and depth of work happening here in Greater Shepparton. We know she’ll represent our region with insight, integrity, and a strong community voice.
Congratulations, Amy – and thank you to PLACE for walking the talk on community-led governance.
