The Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project is thrilled to announce a new partnership with CMV Staff Foundation, which will significantly enhance our Pit Stop program's impact on young people in the Greater Shepparton region.
Lighthouse is a place-based organisation dedicated to building the capability of Greater Shepparton’s young people and families, helping them reach their full potential and contribute to a thriving community. One of our cornerstone initiatives, the Pit Stop program, tackles critical challenges like transportation access by providing refurbished bikes and scooters to local youth and families. Since its launch, Pit Stop has returned over 317 bikes and scooters to the community, empowering recipients with independence and opportunity.
Our new partnership with CMV Staff Foundation strengthens Pit Stop’s mission by addressing a crucial resource need. CMV’s $9,000 investment will enable Pit Stop to provide 100 bikes to community members over the next year, creating a positive ripple effect in local families. This generous contribution also helps sustain Second Spin, the bike refurbishment program within Pit Stop, by supporting the purchase of essential parts such as pedals, hand grips, bike chains, helmets, and tyres.
“The support from CMV will ensure more young people have the reliable, safe transportation they need to access school, sports, and job opportunities,” said Amy Robinson, Executive Officer of Lighthouse. “CMV’s contribution goes beyond financial support—they are helping to create real, lasting change for young people and their families in Greater Shepparton.”
The partnership also includes opportunities to broaden career pathways for young people in Shepparton. CMV Truck & Bus can provide industry tours and work experience placements at their Shepparton workshop, exposing participants to career options in the automotive sector. This hands-on exposure to local career opportunities is vital for fostering aspiration and building connections that can lead to meaningful employment.
CMV Truck & Bus, a third-generation Australian-owned company, is committed to supporting communities through its foundation. Their investment in Shepparton’s youth reflects their dedication to making a tangible difference where it matters most.
“Our young people are the future of Shepparton, and partnerships like this one with CMV allow us to expand programs like Pit Stop, which provide the tools and confidence for young people to succeed,” said Robinson. “We are grateful to CMV for their commitment to investing in our community’s future.”
